Cakey Crisis!

Earlier today, Matt Osikowicz threatened to revoke the Honorary Cakey Membership bestowed upon us (my wife and I) by the residents of Cakey Manor during our trip to Asheville, NC.  Luckily, my quick-thinking wife diffused the situation quickly, and our relationship has been salvaged.

Thank goodness.  Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

Long Live The Cakey's!!!

Text Messaging Through Email

Sending SMS through email is very, very easy.

Sometimes it's easier to text message someone via e-mail, especially if you're sitting at work and don't want to take the time to type out a whole text message on your cell phone.  Here are the email addresses for the 6 most popular cellular phone carriers:

      T-Mobile: phonenumber@tmomail.net
      Virgin Mobile: phonenumber@vmobl.com
      Cingular: phonenumber@cingularme.com
      Sprint: phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com
      Verizon: phonenumber@vtext.com
      Nextel: phonenumber@messaging.nextel.com

where phonenumber = your 10 digit phone number

If you don't know the phone carrier for the cell phone number you are attempting to call, you can try this universal service.

So we got a new dog for Christmas! She is a gift from each of us to each other. Her name is Stella and she is a long-haired Chihuahua. She's been with us for less than 24 hours, but she's making herself at home already! Here's a cute pic of her followed by a picture of her new big sister...

    Outback Steakhouse Jingle

I am very excited to announce I found out where the Outback Steakhouse jingle came from.  You know, the one that goes "Let's go Outback tonight, life will still be there tomorrow."

Apparently the original song is by a band named "of Montreal" (out of Athens, GA oddly enough) and the title of the song is "Wraith Pinned to the Mist (and Other Games)".  I got the album, and it's pretty frickin' good!  I would say it's a mix of Modest Mouse and New Order.  I would recommend giving them a try.

While doing my research, I also found out they were one of the bands one a "Music from the O.C." CD, Mix 5.

I've got some new critter pictures as well, but just haven't had the time to update.  Sorry to my 1 fan out there (me)!

Not dangerous to humans.

    Stupid

Just thought I would share one of my all-time-favorite internet graphics with y'all.  Not sure why I like it more than anything else, but this guy probably got paid good money to make this face.  Not only that, but they probably took 25 different pictures/angles of this shot, and decided THIS IS THE ONE!!!

    Beerfest!

This weekend started out pretty terribly...on Friday we played poker with some friends (No Limit Holdem, Tournament Style) and I was the first one out, so that was kind of sad.  At least my good buddy Miller Lite can't say no, so we had a great evening listening to "Sexyback" by JT.  Good times.

Saturday the Fightin' Irish of Notre Dame got their tails handed to them by Michigan, almost totally taking away all hopes of a national title.  At least the loss came early in the year, maybe they figure something out.

Luckily on Sunday the Chicago Bears put a hurting on the Detroit Lions!!!  This pretty much saved my weekend, I was expecting the Lions to come to play just to make my weekend horrible, but to no avail!  Sexxxy Rexxxy looked great, Bernard Berrian was stunning, even the tight ends got into the mix!  Now all they need is a running game and they'll be Miami-bound in February!

Oh, and now for the reason the subject of this blog is "beerfest"...# of beers I had each night:

    Friday: ~ 12 Miller Lite's
    Saturday: ~ 20 Bud Light's (started at 3:30pm)
    Sunday: ~ 7 Bud Light's

GRAND TOTAL: 39 beers this weekend.  Ouch.  Oh my brother also got cut off at a casino in Las Vegas.  What a proud weekend for the Pernecky family!

    Check ya later!

    Part of living in Florida

It's been a long time since I've checked in, so I thought I'd put some pictures up on here. Ever since living in Florida, I've seen some cool bugs/animals, etc. Besides the every day gecko lizard or the multiple cool birds (sand hill cranes, pelicans, the occasional owl), there are a few things I pay some special attention to.

I found a couple of cool things outside today that caught my eye. Most of the pictures below were taken with my cell phone.

The first 2 pictures are a snake I found while mowing the lawn. It heard the lawn mower coming along so it slithered behind this water thing we have on the side of our house. Based on research I've conducted on the Internet, I believe it's a young Florida Cottonmouth Snake (poisonous):

Here's a Wikipedia article and a Florida Snake Website link if you want to read up on it.

The other thing I found was a cool little hairy spider. It was almost all black with some tiny white spots on it's abdomen. The wife and I thought it had 2 huge green eyes, but upon further review, it turns out they were not it's eyes, but it's chelicerae. Here's my picture of the underside of the spider:

Terrible picture I know. I would have gone out to take a picture of the top side of the little guy/gal but I was in my skivvies and the neighbors may have been offended. Here's a better picture similar to what this one looked like:

Well I hope that was interesting to someone out there. Oh yeah, GO BEARS!

    Whassa Happenin Now

It's our 4 year anniversary tomorrow, and also my wife's 27th bday!  It will be 10 years of us "seeing each other" on June 27th of this year.  Lots of milestones!

How about that folks...I am now the #1 entry when someone types "Mike Pernecky" on a Google search page. I think the Googlers could sense that I was going to give up on them with this whole Blogger deal. Of course I've made the treck over to MySpace.com and am enjoying every lovin' spoonful!

So I guess if you want to see some up-to-date stuff about me, go on over to www.myspace.com/perno

    I guarantee you'll have a mediocre time!
